Federal public holidays are declared under the Holidays Act 1951 and gazetted by JPM Bahagian Kabinet. Fixed Gregorian dates are safe to plan against; lunar dates are advisory and finalised on gazette publication.

Each Malaysian state government gazettes its state-specific holidays separately: Sultan's or Governor's birthdays, harvest festivals (Kaamatan in Sabah, Gawai in Sarawak), state-founding days, and locally observed religious holidays. The 2027 state gazettes typically publish alongside or shortly after the federal gazette in the second half of 2026. Rather than reproduce 2026 or 2025 dates as if they applied to 2027, we gap-state each state block until the respective state gazette is published.

Planning marketing campaigns against advisory dates
Two practical rules from the last three years of planning against Malaysia's holiday calendar:
- Anchor to lunar events by month, not by day. A Raya campaign that ramps three weeks before Aidilfitri does not need the exact gazetted date locked in December of the prior year — the month is enough to schedule creative production, media placement and fulfilment cut-offs. Firm up the exact day when the gazette publishes.
- Never publish a fixed customer-facing date (cut-off, sale end) tied to an ungazetted holiday. If a campaign runs "until CNY Eve 2027", set the calendar reference internally and describe it externally as "the day before Chinese New Year" until the gazette confirms the date.
