One thing before the list: shakalakaa works in Australia, so we have an interest. We are a smaller, remote-led team here, so rather than rank ourselves we explain where we fit in a separate section at the end, and keep every other entry to what each agency publishes about itself. Nobody paid to be listed.

Australia’s SEO market is mature and competitive, with its own awards circuit and several agencies of more than a hundred specialists. In 2026 almost all of them also sell AI-search optimisation, which makes the service menus look alike. To find the best SEO agencies Australia businesses can realistically shortlist, we compared them on four things that still separate them.
- Technical depth. Can the agency find and fix what stops a large or JavaScript-heavy site from being crawled and understood: Core Web Vitals, structured data, rendering, migrations?
- Regulated content. Financial-services and health content is held to a higher standard by Google and by regulators. ASIC’s Regulatory Guide 234 on advertising financial products and services (reissued in June 2026) applies to promotion in any medium, including websites and social media, and expects a balanced message about benefits and risks. An SEO agency writing finance content should have a process for that.
- App store optimisation. For platforms with an app, organic growth happens in the App Store and Google Play as well as Google. Few SEO agencies cover both.
- AI search and reporting. Is there a specific deliverable for AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity, and does reporting go beyond rankings to leads or revenue?

Prosperity Media — Enterprise SEO, Digital PR and AI Search
Prosperity Media is an SEO, content and digital PR agency with offices in Surry Hills, Sydney and South Yarra, Melbourne, and a team of more than 35 working with around 50 clients. It won Best Large SEO Agency at the 2025 APAC Search Awards, and the finance SEO category the same year for HALO Technologies. Its technical audits cover crawl errors, redirects, internal linking and duplicate content, and a separate GEO service tracks citation rate, prompt presence and sentiment across AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude. Work is billed hourly, with suggested monthly hours published by business size, and clients get a full monthly report alongside consulting time. Client logos include IAG, St George, Danone and PepsiCo.
StudioHawk — SEO and App Store Optimisation Together
StudioHawk is an SEO and AI-search specialist founded in Melbourne in 2015, headquartered in Prahran with a Sydney office in South Eveleigh and more than 120 specialists. It does not run paid ads or social, which keeps it focused. It is one of the few Australian SEO agencies that also offers app store optimisation for the App Store and Google Play, from audit and metadata to review and rating growth. In its Sharewise case study it describes a content guardrail process that kept every financial article informative rather than advisory, within ASIC guidelines. It reports fortnightly or monthly, and its own awards page says it won Best Large SEO Agency at the 2026 APAC Search Awards. Clients include Officeworks, Petstock, QuickBooks and Kogan.
First Page — SEO at Scale, With Published Pricing
First Page is a Melbourne and Sydney agency, with offices in Richmond and Barangaroo, that says it has more than 100 in-house SEO specialists within a global team of over 300. It runs paid media too, but SEO is its core. Its technical work covers Core Web Vitals, crawl budget, URL architecture, structured data and JavaScript rendering, and its AI SEO service spans ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode and Copilot. For finance brands it treats content as “your money or your life” material and says it works with the client’s compliance team. Reporting runs through its own SENTR dashboard connected to Search Console and Analytics. It publishes a typical range of A$2,000–15,000 a month for SEO and offers a performance guarantee; read its terms.
Megantic — E-commerce SEO Only
Megantic is a Melbourne-headquartered SEO agency on St Kilda Road that works only with e-commerce businesses and describes its approach as technical, data-driven organic search. Its services include technical and enterprise SEO and site migrations across Shopify, Magento, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Commercetools and headless builds, plus an AI-search service with a free visibility audit. It won the Retail and e-commerce SEO category at the 2025 APAC Search Awards with Ripe Maternity, and clients include Repco, Pushys, Tent World and Samsonite. If you run an online store, and especially if you are re-platforming, it is a specialist worth talking to.
Supple Digital — SME and Financial-Services SEO
Supple Digital is an SEO-first agency with offices in Richmond, Haymarket and Perth that says it has worked with more than 2,000 businesses. Its technical SEO covers crawling and indexing, site structure, page speed and mobile, with dedicated JavaScript and programmatic SEO services, and it runs a financial-services SEO practice built around expertise and trust signals for “your money or your life” content, with a Sure Cash case study. Its “AI SEO” page is about using AI tools in SEO work rather than visibility in AI search, so ask what it offers there. It holds a 5.0 rating on Clutch Australia.
Specialist or Full-Service: Which Do You Need?
The five agencies above split into two shapes. Prosperity Media, StudioHawk and Megantic are specialists: they do organic search (and, for StudioHawk, app stores) and little else. First Page and Supple Digital run SEO alongside paid media and other services. Neither shape is better in general; the right one depends on where your growth problem sits.
A specialist makes sense when organic search is a large share of your revenue or pipeline, when your site is complex (a big catalogue, a JavaScript framework, a pending migration), or when you already have a paid-media partner you are happy with. You get deeper technical attention and a team whose reputation rests on search alone. The trade-off is coordination: someone on your side has to make SEO, paid search and content work together.
A full-service agency makes sense when you want one team accountable for search across paid and organic, when your budget is too small to split between two agencies, or when the same landing pages serve both channels. The trade-off is depth: check who will actually do the technical SEO work, and how senior they are, before you sign.
Whichever shape you choose, agree in writing what success looks like after six and twelve months, in leads, sales or app installs rather than rankings alone, and how both sides will measure it.
Where shakalakaa Fits
We are not trying to out-rank the specialists above in their home market. Our place is with Australian platforms and brands that need SEO, app growth and conversion together, often with a market in Asia as well. Our published Australian work is all of that kind. For North, AMP’s wealth platform, B2B SEO, app store optimisation and conversion work took commercial terms in Google’s top three from 18 to more than 88 and qualified adviser leads from 95 to more than 380 a month, with investor app store conversion rising from 4.8% to 11.6%. For Ofload, a road freight platform, technical SEO and freight-corridor pages grew organic clicks 4.6 times and top-three commercial positions from 16 to 148, alongside native carrier apps. For Nomad Coffee Group, national technical SEO on a new Shopify Plus build lifted organic visits 285%.
Where we are not the answer: if you want a large Australian team in the room every week, or digital PR at national scale, the agencies above are better placed. If you need SEO tied to app installs or B2B pipeline, see our SEO agency in Australia service.
What AI Search Readiness Should Mean in Australia
Nearly every agency now offers “AI SEO” or GEO. Treat it as credible only when the deliverable is specific: pages rewritten so key facts are stated early and can be quoted on their own, consistent structured data for your organisation, products and people, claims backed by sources, and a fixed set of buyer questions checked each month across Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity with the citations recorded. For regulated categories, the same RG 234 discipline applies: AI engines quote what you publish, so a misleading claim reaches more people, not fewer. Ask to see last month’s AI-search report before you sign, and check that it names the questions tested and the pages that were cited.
So Which One?
For enterprise SEO with digital PR and serious GEO work, start with Prosperity Media. If you have an app as well as a website, StudioHawk. If you want a large team with published pricing and a live dashboard, First Page. For an online store, especially through a migration, Megantic. For an SME or a financial-services brand on a tighter scope, Supple Digital. And if you need SEO, apps and an Asian market run together, talk to us.
Before signing, ask each agency for a technical audit sample, how it reports leads or revenue from organic search, what its monthly AI-search deliverable is, and, if you are in finance or health, how its content review works.
