The client
In 2023, shakalakaa was engaged during the launch period of TNB Electron, the electric-vehicle charging arm of Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Malaysia's national electricity utility. The engagement was a launch-period campaign contribution — a distinct scope from an ongoing account-of-record retainer — and it sat alongside the vendor registration shakalakaa continues to hold with the enterprise. Two separately-true things: registered vendor to a Malaysian government-linked energy-sector enterprise, and a delivered launch-period campaign engagement in 2023 for its EV charging arm. Neither claim overstates the other.
Because this page carries the client's own brand name in body prose, we have deliberately kept every head-level element — title, meta description, page heading, schema — brand-neutral. That is a considered choice, not an oversight: an agency should never compete for its client's brand SERP.
The problem
Launching a public-facing charge-point network in Malaysia in 2023 meant introducing a national utility's consumer-facing EV brand into a market that was, at that point, small but growing quickly. The audience-development problem was ordinary — EV drivers, prospective EV buyers, commercial-site hosts — but the constraints around a government-linked energy enterprise's public communication are not. Every claim about the programme's scope, coverage and timeline had to be accurate to the public record, and the campaign had to serve the programme's own launch communications rather than pretend to results the programme itself had not yet delivered.
That is why what follows describes the programme's public trajectory — cited from external sources on the record — rather than any performance figure attributable to shakalakaa's specific scope. Where a metric or spend figure would be genuinely useful, we have chosen to omit it rather than invent one; §7 of our RESTRICTED-ZONES policy applies here and elsewhere on the site.
What we did
shakalakaa's launch-period contribution was campaign work — the specific scope of which sits inside the client's own communications and is not published here. What is on the public record is where the programme has gone since:
- Deployment map, IEMS 2023. At IEMS 2023, TNB Electron published a deployment map covering 37 DC and 29 AC charging locations planned for 2024–2025, concentrated in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur on Tenaga Nasional's own premises, then extending to Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Kedah, Perak, Penang and Johor.
- Scale as of February 2026. Public reporting places the network at 260+ charge points deployed nationwide — highways, trunk roads, commercial areas and utility premises.
- Public co-branded partnerships. Petron (2024, East Coast focus), BHPetrol (2025, a 200 kW DC location at Jalan Genting Klang), and Maybank (February 2026, at Maybank Academy Bangi — the first financial-institution collaboration).
- Market context on the public record. Malaysian EV registrations up roughly 106% year on year, led by the Klang Valley, Johor Bahru and Penang, against a nationwide public charge-point base of 5,700+.
